There were few students, and they were all from very rich, white, privileged backgrounds. It felt snobby and insular to her, and she didn't really enjoy herself while she was there. The school was very monolithic socially.

Since I resided in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the time, this school was the perfect distance for me. To be more specific, the school is called Durham Technical Community College. Naturally I didn't know what to expect from a junior college.

Interesting information on community college program. However, attaining certifications and / or degrees related to your field can yield better jobs and ongoing opportunities. There are many technical and manual labor professions where acquiring a college degree may not seem as important as with other career fields.
